U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Research and Development Program at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital (VAH), Hines, IL is recruiting a Director, Center of Innovation for Complex Chronic Healthcare (CINCCH), Center of Innovation (COIN). The COIN is one of 19 Health Services Research centers funded in the VA system and is located 8 miles west of downtown Chicago. The aim of VA Health Services Research is to examine the organization, financing, and management of health care and their effects on health care delivery, cost, access, utilization and outcomes. CINCCH consists of an interdisciplinary group of 18 core and affiliated researchers in the fields of medicine, sociology, psychology, health economics, organizational behavior, demography, public health, statistics, gerontology, and medical decision making. Much of our grant funding comes from intramural VA funding, but also from other government and private foundation sources. CINCCH is affiliated with three major Chicago Health Science Universities, (Loyola University, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Northwestern University), and includes investigators and offices at both Hines VAH and Jesse Brown VAMC campuses. Hines VAH is adjacent to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Jesse Brown VAMC is located adjacent to the University of Illinois. CINCCH’s research program mission is to enhance quality of care, safety, and value for Veterans. This position is open to those with a professional doctoral level degree (e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD). Depending on applicant qualifications and interests, an academic appointment will be pursued at one of our affiliated universities. Requirements: Applicants must have a successful history of VA HSR&D, NIH, DOD, or PCORI funding in health services research or implementation science with strong academic credentials. Applicants should be motivated to regularly apply for federal funding and mentor junior faculty in the process. The successful candidate will have excellent strategic planning and leadership skills. The successful candidate will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to and engage with diverse audiences, specifically Veterans, staff members, and investigators with diverse racial, rural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Additional Salary Information: Negotiable (commensurate with education and experience). This will be either a full-time or 6/8ths VA appointment. Hospital clinical responsibilities (25% time) are expected for an MD candidate. U.S. Citizenship is required. The Department of Veterans Affairs is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
