The Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks exceptional internists to provide patient-centered care for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in the outpatient setting. We are looking for candidates with a demonstrated track record of clinical excellence who are committed to growing the next generation of physicians through hands-on instruction of residents, fellows, and medical students.

Responsibilities
For appointments hired as Clinical Assistant, Associate, or full Professor:
Duties may include clinical teaching of medical students and other learners, as well as administrative duties. Individuals may also be called upon to fill clinical needs at UW Health Urgent Care Centers. The preferred candidate will either have experience teaching and working with a diverse population or will welcome a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population.
For appointments hired as Assistant, Associate, or full Professor (CHS):
Duties may include clinical teaching of medical students and other learners, as well as administrative duties. Individuals may also be called upon to fill clinical needs at UW Health Urgent Care Centers. The preferred candidate will either have experience teaching and working with a diverse population or will welcome a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population.
Moreover, the successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
Requirements
Qualifications
- A demonstrated track record of clinical excellence, especially in an outpatient setting
- The ability to collaborate on a multidisciplinary team (previous experience collaborating with NPs/PAs preferred)
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on patient empathy
- The ability to balance multiple, often competing priorities
- Previous EHR experience (EPIC preferred but not required)
License/Certification
- ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification (Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified. The expectation is to be Board Certified within first two years of appointment)
- Must have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license
