The Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School’s Division of General Internal Medicine is looking to recruit outstanding clinician-scientists at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. The Division is home to a diverse group of primary care and hospital medicine faculty pursuing clinical research and medical education careers including NIH-funded independent investigators and senior mentors. This tenure-track position is designed to provide a supportive environment for an established/funded, independent clinician-scientist and/or a junior faculty member with a promising future research career.
Areas of interest include epidemiology, outcomes, health services, quality & safety, disparities, population health, comparative effectiveness, clinical trials, and applied informatics research. Senior faculty have expertise in chronic disease management, tobacco cessation and treatment, hospital medicine, transfusion medicine, cancer screening, disparities, population and climate science. The position offers rich opportunities to do observational and interventional research in the RWJ Barnabas Health System, the only academic health system in NJ, comprised of 12 hospitals and numerous ambulatory sites caring for 3 million unique individuals. In addition, there are well-established research programs using state, national, and international claims databases in the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.
Rutgers has a growing Epic EHR clinical and research data warehouse (9 million records), NIH-funded CTSA, KL2 and data cores (biostatistics, informatics, community engagement, machine learning/AI, biomarker, and team & regulatory science), and 14 Institutes and Center including: NCI-funded Comprehensive Cancer Center (Cancer Institute of NJ), Global Health Institute, Center for Tobacco Studies, University Behavioral Health Care (statewide network conducting behavioral health and addiction research), among others. An attractive recruitment package will include a competitive salary and research support start-up funds.
