The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has an opening for an Associate Chief Medical Officer. The ACMO will provide medical oversight, expertise, and leadership for the clinical staff in overseeing the delivery of high quality, safe, innovative, efficient clinical care provided at UICH. The ACMO reports directly to the CMO of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This position will be a 0.5 FTE with the remaining 0.5 FTE as a clinical position in a clinical department within UI Health Care.
The ACMO in this leadership role will work collaboratively with the Clinical Department Chairs and other UI Health Care Leaders in pursuing continuous performance improvement by developing collaborative relationships which meet/exceed expectations while enhancing productivity, operations, patient satisfaction and physician engagement, assuring regulatory compliance and developing a patient-centered team-based culture of excellence in patient care. The ACMO is primarily responsible for planning, directing and monitoring the integrations of clinical operations to ensure the implementation of patient/family-centered care that is cost-effective, and quality-driven throughout UIHC for the Adult inpatient platform (for inpatient care, observation/recovery care and transitions across the system and between UI Health Care and our referring partners).
Board- certified/eligible physician (in an adult medicine discipline that primarily cares for patients as inpatients) with at least 7 years of clinical experience (MD or DO) is required
An advanced degree in healthcare/business (MBA, MHA) or equivalent degree or related experience in healthcare leadership with a successful track record is required
Eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa
Eligibility for a faculty appointment in the Carver College of Medicine at the rank of associate or full professor on either the clinical or tenure track
Clinical experience in an academic setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have proven work experience/track record in enhancing process and performance standards
Have strong analytical abilities with the ability to identify issues and solve problems.
Have ability to create a positive environment where staff is valued and respected
Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment.
