The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is Seeking full-time physician to serve as Associate Director for Education and Evaluation (AD/EE) for the Minneapolis VA Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC).

The AD/EE will provide leadership within the Minneapolis GRECC and contribute to the national GRECC mission to conduct research to improve the health and welfare of older Veterans; advance the geriatric and gerontology education of clinical staff and trainees across disciplines and of early-career investigators; and develop, implement, evaluate and disseminate innovative models of geriatric care. Specific AD/EE responsibilities will include (1) leadership and collaboration in geriatrics-related educational programming for multidisciplinary VA clinical staff and trainees and in aging research methods educational programming for early-career VA investigators; (2) securing funding and developing infrastructure to support Minneapolis GRECC educational programs; (3) developing, securing support for, conducting and publishing geriatrics and gerontology education-related and other geriatrics and gerontology research; and (4) collaborating with the GRECC Associate Director for Clinical Innovation (AD/C) to design, evaluate and disseminate innovative models of geriatric care (clinical demonstration projects). Eligible individuals should have a history of academic grant funding and leadership in educational program development and evaluation. Leadership experience in clinical research and clinical innovation or quality improvement initiatives and a strong track record of collaboration are highly valued

The AD/EE must be Board Eligible or Board Certified and is expected to obtain an academic appointment through the University of Minnesota (UMN) Medical School and to participate in activities in their academic home department at the Minneapolis VA and UMN. GRECC physicians often contribute clinical service to their home academic departments at the Minneapolis VA at the discretion of the GRECC Director, including infrequent call on resident-staffed inpatient services, though this is not explicitly required for this position.
