Director of the National Center for Excellence in Primary Care Research
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
AHRQ is hiring: Director of the National Center for Excellence in Primary Care Research (NCEPCR) to lead the strategic vision for NCEPCR; support and align both intramural and extramural primary care research across the Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement (CEPI) and AHRQ; work with the Agency to develop a national primary care research agenda; serve as AHRQ’s main point of contact with the primacy care community; and oversee the dissemination of AHRQ’s primary care work. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) mission is to produce evidence to make health care safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable, and affordable, and to work within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and with other partners to make sure that the evidence is understood and used. The Agency’s authorizing legislation requires AHRQ to advance the field of primary care research and the National Center for Excellence in Primary Care Research serves as the intellectual home for primary care research across AHRQ. NCEPCR coordinates primary care research activities, curates information, communicates important findings to the field and serves as a central liaison to listen to and learn from all members of the primary care community, convenes stakeholders to accelerate both new research and the dissemination and implementation of evidence from existing research, and catalyzes new primary care research by identifying gaps and next steps.

The successful candidate should have an MD or DO from an accredited medical or osteopathic school; expert knowledge and skill in primary care, health services research, implementation science, and evidence-based medicine; ability to serve as a leader and technical authority to colleagues and issues related to primary care research; ability to lead and direct projects involving the input of groups and individuals with differing interests and views; and ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with national and international health care agencies and organizations to stay aware of the newest research, methods, and developments.
