CHIEF, DIVISION OF GENERAL MEDICINE

The Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Michigan Health System invites applications from qualified physicians and physician scientists to lead its Division of General Medicine. The Division Chief position is a full-time appointment reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. This nationally recognized division is comprised of roughly 160 faculty members, has robust NIH- and VA-funded research programs, and provides care at 11 clinical sites in southeast Michigan.  Responsibilities include overseeing clinical care delivery, promoting and building divisional research activities, and engaging in the training and professional development of students, house officers, and junior faculty.  Candidates must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree, be board-certified in internal medicine, and candidates who are eligible for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor at the University of Michigan are strongly preferred. Desired qualifications include collaborative leadership and administrative experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, established track record in directing an active research program, and proven mentorship ability.
