Emory Healthcare (EHC) and the Emory University School of Medicine (EUSOM) invites inquiries, nominations, and applications in our national search for the next Director, Division of Hospital Medicine. EHC and EUSOM are seeking a collaborative, mission-driven physician leader. This is a unique opportunity for a highly accomplished individual to lead and further develop one of the nation's most expansive and impactful academic hospital medicine programs.
Through visionary leadership, disciplined recruitment, and a sustained commitment to clinical excellence, EUSOM has built one of the nation’s premier hospital medicine programs. Emory now has the opportunity to appoint a transformative, next-generation leader who will elevate the hospital medicine program from a nationally distinguished division to a defining model for academic hospital medicine: advancing systemwide integration, pioneering new approaches to care delivery, expanding high-impact research, strengthening education and mentorship, and shaping the future of inpatient medicine across Emory and beyond.
Reporting directly to the Chair of Medicine, the Division Director will provide strategic, operational, and academic leadership across all clinical, educational, and research missions within Hospital Medicine. The Director will be responsible for advancing care delivery models, supporting continued growth and integration across hospital sites, and enhancing the Division’s impact on quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
Emory’s Division of Hospital Medicine is the largest academic hospital medicine division in the country with more than 325 academic hospitalists and more than 75 advanced practice providers (APPs) caring for patients in ten Atlanta hospitals: Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Emory Decatur Hospital, Emory Hillandale Hospital, Emory Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital, Emory Long-Term Acute Care Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, and the Atlanta VA Medical Center.
The primary mission of the Division is clinical care with most of the individual professional effort devoted to direct care of patients with acute, complex medical problems. In addition, the Division has demonstrated expertise in teaching, quality improvement, and scholarship. The Division has a large and accomplished leadership team focused on clinical operations, faculty development, recruitment, and research. Through its Education Council, Quality Council, and Wellness Council in addition to site-directed professional development programs, the Division supports major initiatives to foster a culture of clinical scholarship.
